Head of Programs & High-Performance Ahmed Saad is excited by the challenge the Tasmania Devils will pose to the Bachar Houli Foundation’s (BHF) Talent League side.
The BHF are set to feature in their second Talent League match this season when they face the Devils on Sunday, July 5 at North Hobart Oval.
Earlier this year, the AFL announced that the BHF would feature in two exhibition matches.
The Foundation’s first match was against the GWS GIANTS Academy on April 25 at Blacktown International Sportspark.
“The Bachar Houli Foundation as a collective is grateful for the opportunity ahead,” Saad said.
“The chance for our Academy participants to showcase their talent is extremely valuable to us.”
Saad reflected on the BHF’s 84-point loss to the GIANTS Academy earlier this year.
“While we were disappointed by the scoreboard, ultimately our objective goes beyond wins and losses,” he said.
“We walked away with a strong sense of pride in the way our boys conducted themselves both on and off the field and more importantly it was great for us to provide 14 players an opportunity to play their first game in the Talent League as well as provide our coaching staff their first experience coaching at that level.”
“There were some great individual performances, as well as some breakout moments. For us, there’s a lot to be excited about heading into July 5.”
The BHF’s side will be strengthened by the addition of WAFL participants Rhama Evans and Riaz Mohammad, as well as their contingent of Calder Cannons’ participants, all having missed the BHF’s match against the GIANTS.
“We’re really pleased to have our Western Australian and Calder Cannons participants included in our lineup. It will be a big boost for us, and I am excited to see what they can produce against Tasmania,” Saad said.
The first bounce for the Bachar Houli Foundation against the Tasmania Devils is set for 1.30pm on Sunday, July 5 at North Hobart Oval.
