JUNIOR GIRLS SPORTS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The Junior Girls Leadership program is a 12-month program that involves a three-day non-residential camp for Muslim girls aged between 12 and 14 years.

With a strong focus on physical activity, health and well-being, identity and leadership, the program aims to build confidence for Muslim women in sports, in the workplace and in society at large.

The program also aims to create community role models and provide a sense of belonging by developing key skills and a sense of self through workshops on goal-setting, sports development, identity, public speaking and interactions with Muslim female role models.

In a culturally safe environment, the program focuses on developing physical activity, health and well-being, identity and leadership, and aims to build confidence within Muslim women in sports – both in the workplace and society.

Participants are selected from Islamic and non-Islamic schools all over Victoria and will engage in an intensive camp run by experienced female Bachar Houli Foundation staff.

Participants will learn from a range of influential Muslim women and guest speakers from different cultural and professional backgrounds to gauge an understanding of the lived experiences of Muslim women in Australia.

The framework for the program has been developed by subject matter experts providing an industry-leading standard curriculum and delivered by experienced mentors.
