The Bachar Houli Foundation’s (BHF) Senior Academy recorded an emphatic 61-point win against the Western Jets on Tuesday morning at the Swinburne Centre, 23.7 (145) to 13.6 (84).
In an impressive opening term, the hosts exploded out of the blocks to register a nine-goal quarter and secure a 50-point quarter time buffer against the Jets.
Three goals in the opening quarter came from spearhead Rafiek Haddara, who finished the day with six goals to go along with his 11 disposals.
The BHF piled on four more goals in the second term off the back of strong work from Calder Cannon duo Hussien Al Achkar (21 disposals, seven clearances and two goals) and Khalil Kaakour (23 disposals, six marks and two goals).
Calder Cannon big man Carled El Khodr was colossal in the ruck, finishing with 40 disposals to go along with a whopping 30 contested possessions, 23 clearances, five marks, 16 hit-outs, six inside-50’s and one goal.
Sam Elsokni and Jad Naim was impressive out on the wings.
Naim, the brother of BHF academy graduate and VFL Bomber Amin, was strong in his first Senior Academy outing to finish with 22 disposals, five clearances and two goals while Elsokni was impactful with 26 disposals, three marks and six inside-50’s.
In the second half, there were no signs of a Jets comeback.
The hosts registered a six-goal third term to lead by 74 points at three-quarter-time.
Out of the midfield, Adam Sweid (18 disposals, eight contested possessions, three inside-50’s and one goal) and Adam Kandil (16 disposals, six marks, six inside-50’s and one goal) were impressive.
Also starring was Mohammed Abdullah.
The 2023 Elite Performance Academy participant finished with 23 disposals, three marks, five clearances and five inside-50’s as the BHF cruised to a 61-point win against the Jets.
The Bachar Houli Foundation will look ahead to their next challenge against the Eddie Betts Foundation this Friday at the Swinburne Centre from 5:00pm.
